Flash #14 Review – Look For Trouble, Find Trouble

Flash 14 ReviewI honestly have no real idea why, but for some reason, Barry is obsessed with finding out where the Rogues went. They helped Flash save Central City from Gorilla Grodd, and then they just disappeared. No word of them in the underground, no heists reported, nothing. I would think that Flash would simply say, “Good riddance,” and move on. He’s dealing with a bunch of low-level wannabe criminals that he can bag in his sleep. Why, exactly, does he want to rock the boat?He searches high and low for the Rogues, which currently consist of

  • Captain Cold,
  • Mirror Master,
  • Golden Glider,
  • Trickster,
  • Weather Wizard, and
  • Heat Wave.

Captain Boomerang is now part of the Suicide Squad, and he sends his regards.

Granted, that is a good number of people to suddenly up and vanish. At the same time, couldn’t he simply count his blessings and move on?

The answer is a big fat no. First he interrogates as the Flash. When that shuts him down, he tries again as Barry Allen, crime scene investigator. He actually makes progress going that route, and he finds their hidden safe house that he could have found years ago if he just questioned one ex-girlfriend.

Or could he? Apologies for spoiling this, but the Rogues intended for him to find their old lair and plans. They threw out bait, and since Flash can’t leave well enough alone, he gobbled it up. On the one hand, yay for the return of the Rogues. On the other, would they have returned at all if Flash didn’t go looking for them?

I also wonder if their return has anything to do with investigating the Rebirth phenomenon. Rumor has it that Batman and Flash are teaming up soon to find out more about the button Batman found. With that in mind, it makes sense to reason that maybe the Rogues have made their own discoveries, which is why they scattered those breadcrumbs for Flash.

Personally, I hope they’re back just to break some shit.
