Weapon X #3 Review – From Odd Couple to Lethal Weapon
I can’t emphasize enough how much I love Old Man Logan and Sabretooth working together. They’ve started off as the Odd Couple in their adventures, but now that they have a bit of a handle on things, they’ve become Lethal Weapon. Logan is the grizzled veteran who plays by the rules, and Sabretooth is the loose cannon who always gets the job done. To be honest, I’m not sure I could handle it if the roles were reversed. Sabretooth was pretty straight-laced in Uncanny X-Men, but they both can’t be even-keeled in Weapon X. Might as well have Cyclops, the dead one, be Logan’s partner.
The job this issue, other than to survive these adamantium death-machines, is to track them and see whom they’re after this time. It’s not another mutant with a healing factor or one with adamantium anything. It’s Domino, the mercenary who creates her own luck. Today does not seem to be her lucky day.
Project Weapon X wants to harvest her for her luck producing ability. They dream of death machines made of adamantium, with healing abilities, the ability to track, and the ability to make their own luck. Those would definitely be the scariest death machines imaginable, which naturally, they are going for.
Logan and Creed managed to give the androids the slip and follow them to their next target. However, on the way, Creed wants to go shopping. I never thought I’d see Sabretooth buy firearms, but at least when he does, he buys them Sabretooth-style.
This has to be the most fun road trip Logan has ever had. I’m having a blast, anyway. (Punny!)
After reading the grimdark and infuriating world of Secret Empire and the depressing world of Captain America: Sam Wilson, Weapon X is an amazing breath of fresh air. Sometimes, amidst the political commentary and death, you need a Lethal Weapon. You need some comedy to lighten up the atmosphere. Weapon X hits all those spots with great vigor. I look forward to these issues each month.
