Episode 7 – A Tale of Two Oracles
Ever since we started reading Batgirl comics, Jen and I have noticed a bit of continuity issues between them. One surrounds the name Oracle. Oracle was originally Barbara Gordon’s code name when she was paralyzed in a wheelchair. She worked the Bat Cave when Batman was out and about and used her skills as a hacker to help Batman traverse through treacherous areas. Now that Babs has the use of her legs back, she’s hung up the Oracle hat.
That said, the Batgirl series has one Oracle, and Batgirl and the Birds of Prey has another. They are not the same. They came to be Oracle in extremely different ways. We’re so confused as to why this is happening.
What better way to work out our confusion than by podcasting about it? Untangling this Tale of Two Oracles takes the main stage. Then we get into what we’ve been reading, which includes East of West, Captain America: Sam Wilson, AD After Death, and whole lotta X-Men.
